Celebrate National Music Week: "Music is...Unstoppable" - May 4-11, 2025
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in supporting the United Nations through NFMC.
The National Federation of Music Clubs has been affiliated with the United Nations since 1949 and was the first music organization invited to be a part of the Department of Public Information (now the Department of Global Communications). NFMC and her members are committed to implementing strategies and programs of action that will support the United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development, Agenda 2030, and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are committed as individuals and as an organization to making our world a more just, equitable and healthy place to live, learn and grow.

- To analyze and interpret to the NFMC membership the aims and works of the UN.
- As an organization included in the Official Roster of the UN, to reaffirm music as a universal language and to enhance the musical path of mutual understanding through cultural enrichment at all levels, amateur or professional.
- To continue to observe and to cooperate for the survival of music in all its multiple noteworthy facets, whenever the opportunity arises.

Our NFMC Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Liana Valente, encourages members to take an active role in addressing the needs of our communities. Her articles published in the Junior Keynotes Magazine have inspired our California Junior members to take actions and commit to talking about one of the UN SDGs at each of their monthly meetings, and to putting these goals into practice. Junior Clubs across California are using the power of music to bring positive changes locally, nationally, and globally. Watch her address at the 2019 NFMC Conference below.

How Local Junior Clubs are making a difference
Volunteering time and collecting donations for local rescue centers.
Performing for and visiting Senior Living Centers to promote healthy aging.
Volunteering for local backpack drives and fundraising to help further music education in schools
Using QR Codes and Websites to share information instead of paper flyers to reduce waste and consumption.
Providing water bottle refill stations to encourage the use of reusable water bottles.
Collaborating with local, national and global organizations and businesses who share our same goals.
